画家、版画家として、アフリカンアメリカンの力強いイメージを描き続けたチャールズ・ホワイト(1918-1979)の40年あまりのキャリアを振り返る回顧展。ドローイング、絵画、版画、イラストレーション、写真、レコードジャットの作品など100点以上が展示される。「芸術は闘争の欠かすことのできない一部」と語ったホワイトは、そのキャリアを通じ、歴史、文化、政治、社会問題などを題材としての作品に取り入れていた。(林 玄一)
